Job summary

Farm Boy Inc. in Barrie is seeking a Department Supervisor to help deliver exceptional service and operational excellence that reflect Farm Boy’s commitment to the best fresh shopping experience.

You’ll lead team huddles, coach staff, manage scheduling, inventory, and payroll functions, and work closely with the Department Manager to execute strategies and meet performance goals. Fluency in English is required; French is considered an asset, and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business.
• Minimum 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while balancing priorities.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfort with computer software and payroll/tools.
• Fluency in English; French language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, confident, and engaging customer service.
• Work closely with the Department Manager to execute departmental strategies and achieve goals.
• Support team development through training, coaching, motivation, and recognition.
• Lead regular team huddles to share goals, recognize achievements, and provide meaningful feedback.
• Support daily operations by ensuring outstanding customer service, merchandising, staffing, and cleanliness.
• Provide office and administrative support, including inventory management, ordering, invoicing, schedule maintenance, and payroll functions.
• Promote compliance with Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies.
• Contribute to store success by assisting with other related duties as required.

• Support daily operations by ensuring outstanding customer service, accurate merchandising and rotation, adequate staffing coverage, and consistent department cleanliness.
• Provide office and administrative support, including inventory management, ordering, invoicing, schedule maintenance, and payroll functions.
• Promote compliance with all Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations to maintain a safe and high‑quality shopping environment.
• Contribute to store success by assisting with other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a post‑secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment by effectively managing competing priorities while maintaining a high level of performance.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills supported by a clear, professional communication style.
• Comfort learning and using manual and automated systems, with prior experience working with a variety of computer software programs.
• Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.
