Qualifications

  • Manage day camp sign-in/out procedures.

POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME, 40 HOURS/WEEKPosition SummaryAs a part of our programming team, the Assistant Day Camp Counsellor is responsible for the coordination, preparation, delivery, and clean-up of day camp programming. The Assistant Day Camp Counsellor is responsible for the safety of day camp participants at all times.Responsibilities

  • Preparation and clean-up of all day camp activities
  • Program delivery and supervision of campers during all day camp crafts and activities
  • Facilitating day camp sign-in/out in accordance with museum procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
Education
  • Currently attending or completed post-secondary education in applicable area such as elementary education, early childhood education, recreation, visual arts, theatre/performing arts, or STEAM related field
Experience
  • At least one year related experience working with children and families
Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in customer service
  • Ability to effectively communicate in an enthusiastic and engaging manner with children and adults in a non-traditional educational environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with staff, volunteers, and the general public
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity to working with staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders with a wide variety of needs
Skills Desired
  • Ability to work in both official languages an asset
  • Demonstrated experience delivering programming to children
EligibilityTo be eligible, youth must:
  • Be between 15 and 29 years of age
  • Be a resident of Manitoba and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number
  • Youth aged 15 years must have a certificate of completion for the Young Worker Readiness Certificate course
