Job summary

Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority is seeking an Assistant Cook for the Supportive Housing unit. You will prepare, serve and portion meals, including regular, therapeutic and texture-modified options, while maintaining safety and sanitation standards.

Under supervision of the Manager, Support Services and Cook, you will provide courteous service to patients, residents, staff and visitors and ensure compliance with Health regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid Food Handlers Certificate required (must be obtained within six months).
• Knowledge in therapeutic diets and texture modification.
• Minimum of three years commercial food services experience, preferably in a health care setting.
• Ability to operate required equipment.
• Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion and serve regular, therapeutic and texture-modified meals.
• Receive and portion control meals for patients, residents, staff, volunteers and visitors.
• Maintain high standards of safety and sanitation.
• Provide courteous and effective customer service aligned with the Authority's values.
