Job summary

Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority in Fisher Branch is seeking an Assistant Cook to support regular meals, therapeutic and texture-modified menus for patients, staff, volunteers and visitors. Under the Manager's direction, you will prepare, plate and portion meals with attention to safety and quality.

The role requires Grade 11 education, a valid Food Handlers Certificate (within six months), knowledge of therapeutic diets, and at least three years in commercial food services,

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 11 education.
• Food Handlers Certificate (must be obtained within six months). Re-certification current.
• Knowledge in therapeutic diets and texture modification.
• Minimum of three years commercial food services experience, preferably in health care and/or quantity cooking.
• Ability to operate required equipment.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; English proficiency.
• Satisfactory employment record.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, serve and portion meals for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment.
• Provide courteous, effective customer service.
• Assist with texture-modified and therapeutic diets as required.
• Support Mission, Vision and Values of the health authority.
