Internal applications for this position within the UFCW bargaining unit must be received within 7 days of being posted to have seniority considered.

What you’ll be doing :

1. Prepare texture-adapted recipes and cook menu items
2. Prepare items for special menus or allergies under supervision
3. Prepare food for staff cafeteria under supervision
4. Take cooking temperatures and record on production sheets under supervision
5. Prepare food for catering as directed
6. Assist the cooks in all duties, manage protein thawing, and help with inventory and ordering control of proteins
7. Create raw food items such as breaded products, stuffed products, vegetable balls, burgers, and other menu items under supervision
8. Organize and manage freezer space
9. Replace the cook during absences

What we’re looking for :

• Participation in an apprenticeship program or proof of a minimum of 4000 hours of culinary experience under a Red Seal chef; equivalent experience may be considered
• Ability to challenge the Red Seal exam within 2 years or already possess the Red Seal certification
• Manual dexterity and ability to stand for long periods
• Capability to cut with a knife for extended periods
• Ability to lift, push, pull items up to 10 kg
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills
• Proven attendance record
