Job Summary :

As the Assistant Controller, you will provide strategic and operational leadership while managing the finance staff. You will be responsible for overseeing various accounting activities, financial reporting, budgeting, and driving operational efficiency.

Responsibilities :

  • Take functional responsibility for general accounting activities, cost accounting activities, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Lead the annual financial budgeting process.
  • Drive operational efficiency and conduct profitability analysis.
  • Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, cost-benefit analyses, and financial management reports.
  • Review and assess Finance-related internal controls.
  • Manage cash flow, including forecasting, transfers, balance maintenance, and investment activities.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports as required.
  • Organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operation of an accounting audit.
  • Serve as a finance subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with Canadian / United States legal requirements and financial reporting standards.
  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operation of the accounting department.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Notify and report critical financial performance trends to Senior Management.
  • Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with Health & Safety Policies, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Manufacturing industry background preferred.
  • Minimum five years of progressive managerial experience.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities.
  • Relevant financial experience in costing and accounts payable / receivable.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential.
  • Proficient in PC use, Microsoft Word, and Excel applications.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic production-related environment.
