Your new company

Our client, who is a prominent company in the construction and real estate development sector, is looking for an Assistant Controller to join the team. The company has decades of experience maintaining a reputation for excellence, innovation, and financial stability.

Your new role

  • Monitor financial transactions for compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate project accounting records.
  • Lead core financial processes: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow management.
  • Support financial planning and cost management for development projects.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for projects.
  • Preparing job cost reports
  • Assist with tax filings, including GST, PST, and corporate tax returns.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure financial operations support overall business goals.
  • Apply best practices for continuous process improvement

What you'll need to succeed

  • Accounting or relevant education with a CPA designation
  • 5+ years of progressive relevant accounting experience with a preference coming from construction and development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience leading process improvement
  • Experience with accounting and financial systems; Yardi experience preferred
