Qualifications

Job description

Relevant to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting and managing the organization's financial activities. They will assist the Finance Director with accounting operations, ensuring tasks are performed accurately and efficiently. In addition to actively supporting specific activities, they will also be responsible for coordinating and executing their own projects and analyses.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for the following areas for three (3) companies:

• Perform bank reconciliations;
• Conduct various monthly analyses (fixed assets, prepaid expenses, cost allocation to projects, general expenses analysis, etc.);
• Analyze payments to suppliers in accordance with agreed terms;
• Manage contractual documents (conformity letters, notices, receipts);
• Support the payroll department in execution and verification (employee files created after hiring, CCQ and AMMQ rates during contract changes, hours entered in Advantage, etc.);
• Respond to workload surges in the accounting department as needed (accounts receivable and payable, payroll, etc.);
• Generate GST/QST reports;
• Generate withholding tax reports (DAS);
• Process employee RRSP/RPDB contributions;
• Prepare reports for the Quebec Construction Commission (CCQ);
• Submit reports to the Quebec Workers' Federation (FTQ);
• Proficient in Advantage, Excel, and Office 365;
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and practices related to construction;
• Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills;
• Strong ability to prioritize;
