Job Title: Assistant Construction Manager (Toronto)

Job Description

The Assistant Construction Manager will assist the Construction Project Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager, and/or the Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) Project Manager or Program Manager with day-to-day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, proposals, estimates, documentation, turnover, client interface, field activities, and other duties required to execute EPC projects, construction management, and program management ventures. This position will work on diverse projects across multiple industries including aviation, commercial building, electrical transmission & distribution, facilities, manufacturing, oil & gas, power generation, process, and water.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to company safety programs, training, policies, and collaborate with the project team to manage safety & health performance.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, interfacing with clients on proposals and project matters.
  • Assist in risk reviews and coordinate with the Legal Department as needed.
  • Develop and help implement Project Execution, Quality Assurance, Safety & Health, Subcontracting, Staffing, Organization Chart, and Procurement Plans.
  • Contribute to negotiations and execution of contracts, change orders, and procurement documents.
  • Support project mobilization/demobilization, permit acquisition, and bid processes.
  • Assist in managing project specifications, drawings, design changes, and downstream contract administration.
  • Support project cost reporting, scheduling, progress tracking, and stakeholder communication.
  • Verify project documentation, insurance, licensures, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in safety, quality, progress, and financial audits and assessments.
  • Facilitate material management, inventory control, and project turnover documentation.
  • Assist with labor management, staffing, and craft training, including analyzing crew rates and maintaining classifications.
  • Manage construction equipment and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or related field plus 3 years relevant experience, or applicable experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management software preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in industries such as aviation, commercial, energy, manufacturing, oil & gas, etc., is preferred.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and ability to meet company driving requirements.
