A community choir organization is seeking an Assistant Conductor to lead rehearsals and performances for the Mississauga Festival Choir. The ideal candidate should have experience with community choirs, a strong leadership style, and a commitment to music education. This role offers an honorarium on a monthly basis for 10 months per year, with the possibility of a year-round contract.
With over 160 singers, Mississauga Festival Choir (MFC) is the largest and most active community choir in Mississauga. We first came together in 1984 to celebrate Mississauga’s 10th anniversary, and we stayed together to celebrate the joy of singing in a choral community like no other. Our spirited singing springs from our no-audition policy. Everyone who loves to sing is welcome to join us, and audiences hear the joy in every song. Under the leadership of David Ambrose, MFC performs many concerts, raises money for local charities, and tours the world. MFC works with a variety of musicians including soloists, instrumentalists and regular collaborations with the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra.
Our organization includes 3 choirs – MFC, Mississauga Festival Chamber Choir (an auditioned choir of approximately 35 singers) as well as Raising Voices, an outreach singing program for people living with Alzheimer’s. The Assistant Conductor position works specifically with MFC. Our MissionMississauga Festival Choir is a community choir organization that enriches lives through music by way of performance, education and outreach – while valuing excellence in choral music performance, education, spirit: celebration, joy and pleasure, and community engagement.
Honorarium is a monthly fee for 10 months per year, with the possibility of a year-round contract.
