SSP Canada operates several restaurants throughout the Ottawa International Airport, including Darcy McGees, Cork & Well, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Bridgehead Coffee, Big Rig Brewing, and Canal Market.

The Assistant Restaurant Manager partners with the Restaurant General Manager to lead the restaurant team. Responsibilities include delegating tasks, delivering exceptional customer service, leading by example, and developing team members.

Essential Functions

  1. Recruits, trains, develops, and communicates with the team of Food Travel Experts. Implements and maintains guest service standards and brand specifications.
  2. Maintains merchandising standards, display presentations, signing standards, and monitors inventory levels.
  3. Develops, plans, and assigns daily goals, tasks, and team member assignments.
  4. Manages, supervises, and evaluates team member performance, providing feedback and disciplinary actions as needed.
  5. Assists in monitoring sales performance through analysis of sales reports and comparison shopping.
  6. Ensures adherence to all company policies, procedures, and provincial health/sanitation standards.
  7. Manages office tasks including funds management, receiving, inventory, purchasing, team scheduling, and payroll.

Skills & Other Requirements

  1. Minimum of two (2) years of management experience in the food & beverage industry, preferably in a coffee shop environment.
  2. Previous experience managing a Starbucks location is strongly preferred.
  3. Experience in casual dining settings is also preferred.
  4. Proven ability to manage conflicts effectively, work under pressure, and make sound decisions in high-stress situations.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Strong organizational skills to prioritize activities on various time scales.
  7. Ability to obtain Transport Canada Security Clearance.
