Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Head Coach, Varsity Blues Football, the incumbent assists in planning and implementing the Football program within University guidelines. Responsibilities include student athlete recruitment, athlete management, human resources, sport development, athlete development, alumni relations, community development, and acting as a technical resource.

The incumbent contributes to designing a sport development plan aimed at achieving provincial and national prominence, including financial planning, performance targets, budget management, revenue generation, and performance evaluation.

Managing the defensive segment of the recruitment process and maintaining recruiting data are key responsibilities. The Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator must effectively communicate the benefits of attending U of T and being part of the Varsity Blues to attract talented students and athletes.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: University degree in kinesiology/physical education or equivalent experience. Fully certified with National Coach Certification Program Level 3 Football; Level 4 or 5 preferred.
  • Experience: At least 4 years coaching USports Football, preferably as a Defensive Coordinator.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, video analysis software, recruitment databases; effective communication, problem-solving, negotiation, analytical, and technical knowledge of football rules and regulations, including OUA and U Sports rules.
  • Other: Strong interpersonal skills, instructional and motivating abilities, team-building, planning, initiative, good judgment, tact, record-keeping, and numeracy skills.
