Farm Boy Inc. in Burlington, Ontario, is seeking a Department Supervisor to lead the delivery of exceptional food and service experiences.

You will coach and support a high-performing team, manage departmental strategies, and ensure daily operations run smoothly across the fresh foods area. The role requires a post-secondary Culinary Management program and at least 1 year of supervisory experience, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary program in Culinary Management with 1 year supervisory/management experience.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage priorities.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; English fluent; French an asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, confident, and engaging customer service across the department.
• Collaborate with the Department Manager to execute departmental strategies and achieve goals.
• Train, coach, and recognize team members to build a high-performing team.
• Lead regular huddles to share goals, celebrate successes, and reinforce product knowledge.
• Prepare and cook fresh offerings for hot and cold bars and grill stations.
• Support daily operations: merchandising, staffing coverage, cleanliness, and inventory control.
• Handle office tasks: scheduling, invoicing, and payroll functions.
• Ensure compliance with policies, HACCP, health and safety requirements.

Through hands‑on leadership, coaching, and operational support, you’ll help drive daily excellence while building an engaged, trusting, and high‑performing team. • Work closely with the Department Manager to execute departmental strategies and achieve stated goals and performance objectives.
• Support team development through training, coaching, motivation, and recognition while maintaining a high level of trust, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Build a positive, collaborative team culture by leading regular huddles to share goals, celebrate successes, strengthen product knowledge, and encourage two‑way feedback.
• Bring our food experience to life by preparing and cooking fresh offerings for our hot and cold bar and grill stations.
• Support daily department operations to ensure excellent customer service, effective merchandising and rotation, adequate staffing coverage, and consistently high cleanliness standards.
• Provide office and administrative support including inventory management, ordering, invoicing, scheduling, and payroll functions.
• Promote clear communication and adherence to company policies and government regulations to support compliance across the team.
• Follow all corporate policies and procedures with a strong focus on Health & Safety, Food Safety, HACCP compliance, and proper equipment use.
• Support store operations by assuming other related duties on a periodic basis.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for delivering engaging and exceptional customer service.
• Completion of a post‑secondary program with an emphasis in Culinary Management, plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment by effectively managing priorities while maintaining a high level of performance.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, supported by strong mathematical aptitude.
• Comfort learning and using manual and automated systems, with prior experience working with a variety of computer software programs.
• Thrive in a hands‑on setting that involves extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, and work that may be performed in cooler, freezer, and outdoor conditions.
• Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.
