Job Overview:

Assist with the coordination and delivery of medical care for athletes within the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics at Rutgers University, in consultation with the Assistant Director of Athletic Training and other qualified medical personnel.

The incumbent will assist other full-time sports health providers with daily event coverage and care delivery as scheduled, and provide the sports health department with short- and long-term leave replacement support.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • National Athletic Trainers' Association BOC certification in good standing
  • New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners Athletic Training License in good standing
  • Degree in athletic training from CAATE-accredited program
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Experience managing multiple tasks under pressure
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to lift equipment and assist with ambulation of injured individuals (up to 50 pounds)
  • Active AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Certification
Preferred:
  • Experience as an Athletic Trainer in collegiate or elite athletic settings
  • Blood Flow Restriction training proficiency
Scheduling Requirements:
  • May include non-traditional hours, holidays, evenings, and weekends
  • Some travel required
Essential Functions:
  • Provide athletic training services for Rutgers athletic teams
  • Attend practices and competitions, home and away
  • Manage health needs of teams and athletes with a patient-centered approach
  • Provide first aid and emergency care
  • Develop procedures for minor injuries
  • Assist with rehabilitation services under physician direction
  • Provide reports as needed
  • Communicate relevant health information clearly and confidentially to coaches, staff, athletes, and families
