Location: On-Site – expected to work fully at the designated campus/office location.

Hiring Wage/Salary Range: Assistant Vice President: $125,000 - $135,000; Associate Vice President: $135,000 - $145,600

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Emergency Management—Lead the Emergency Operations Center during crisis response; oversee emergency preparedness through tabletop exercises and briefings; develop effective emergency protocols and business continuity plans.
  • Campus Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Transportation—Provide oversight for a full-time director in each area; ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory standards; lead risk assessment and mitigation activities.
  • Dean Of The College Divisional Responsibilities—Serve on the VP/DOC Senior Leadership Team; advance strategic priorities of the DOC Division and the University’s Third Century Plan; liaise with Human Resources and assist with staff orientation.
  • Policy, Compliance, and Reporting—Develop and apply policies, protocols, and workflows; ensure compliance with Clery, Hazing Prevention, and related regulations; produce reports on compliance and incidents.
  • Budget and Resources—Monitor budgets; steward university resources; oversee financial and human resources across assigned areas.
  • Communications and Relationships—Develop and deliver effective communications with campus partners; build relationships with local law enforcement and external constituencies.
  • Training and Outreach—Deliver training to faculty, staff, and students on guidelines and programs; ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Operations Alignment—Align departmental operations with institutional priorities of accessibility, sustainability, and reliability; oversee Transportation, Campus Safety, and related services.
  • Compliance Oversight—Oversee compliance with state and federal transportation regulations and University motor vehicle policies; monitor safety standards and incident reporting.
  • HR and Leadership—Participate in labor negotiations as required; lead and mentor divisional staff; promote diversity and inclusive campus climate.
Qualifications

Education and Experience—A Bachelor’s degree and minimum of ten years of experience in emergency management, safety and security, law enforcement, fire safety, risk management, or related field with at least five years in a leadership role.

Preferred and Additional Qualifications—Demonstrated success in managing complex projects; experience leading individuals and teams; ability to build consensus; strong judgment and adaptability; expertise in law enforcement, environmental health and safety, emergency management, and related certifications; ability to train and educate diverse campus audiences; financial, facilities, and HR management; budget development and strategic alignment; strong communications and policy development skills; knowledge of transportation regulations, environmental health and safety standards; ability to produce compliance reports; commitment to diversity and inclusive practice.

Education Notes—A Master’s degree in emergency management, criminal justice, or related fields is preferred. Military service, fire department, emergency medical training, or other related certifications are helpful.

Certifications

A current valid driver’s license is required per University policy.
