Job Description

The Assistant Ash Crane Operator (AACO) is an entry-level position, subject to completing in-house progressive training to learn basic operations and maintenance skills in a first-class Power Plant. The AACO is preferred to possess their Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate or be working towards it.

The candidate will work on a 24 / 7 / 365 shift schedule. The AACO will support operational, maintenance, and cleaning functions of the Plant.

Main Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety and environmental standards, regulations, and policies
  • Perform plant clean-up and preventative maintenance
  • Conduct plant rounds and equipment inspections
  • Operate heavy equipment such as Dozer, Front End Loader, Fork Lift, Skid Steer, AWP, and Telehandler
  • Support operations and maintenance teams
  • Participate in preventative and corrective maintenance programs
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and take corrective actions
  • Maintain operating logs according to regulations
  • Communicate operational status to incoming shifts and relevant personnel
  • Participate in Lock Out / Tag Out safety procedures
  • Provide relief for plant operators
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Train and work effectively with other staff
  • Assist at other plants if needed
  • Engage in professional development activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience :

  • Class 4 power engineering certification or working towards it
  • Effective communication, problem-solving, and supervisory skills
  • Experience in industrial settings and operations
  • Experience with trades, maintenance, or construction
  • Material handling and heavy equipment experience
  • Work Environment

    Full-time, 24 / 7 / 365 shift work. Ability to work in extreme temperatures, handle dust and airborne particles, and wear PPE. Physical ability to perform manual tasks and work at heights or in confined spaces.

    Salary : $34.80 to $35.80 per hour, depending on experience and licensing.
