What you’ll do
Reporting to the Agribusiness Manager, the Assistant Agribusiness Manager Management Trainee is primarily responsible for participating in training experiences, learning new skills, and demonstrating increasing proficiency and expertise with leadership responsibilities.
The South Country Co-op Limited Management Trainee program will prepare the incumbent to make decisions and take actions in people management, operations management, and merchandising management. The primary purpose is to prepare the Assistant Agribusiness Manager Management Trainee for a Team Leader role and provide the experience and knowledge required to perform leadership responsibilities with minimal supervision.
This position is mobile within the South Country Co-op trading area.
Under the guidance of an experienced manager, key responsibilities include:
- Participate in training programs and hands-on learning to build leadership capabilities.
- Gain experience in operations and merchandising management to prepare for leadership roles.
- Work closely with the Agribusiness Manager to understand customer service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Work closely with the Agribusiness Manager to understand financial procedures and focuses of the Agro centre.
- Support the Agribusiness Manager in meeting financial goals and achieving key performance indicators.
- Assist with the development and implementation of strategies to improve sales and operational efficiency.
- Work closely with the Agribusiness Manager to understand merchandising, buying, and image standards.
- Foster relationships with internal and external customers and build teamwork skills.
- Participate in employee-related management functions, including interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, motivation, discipline, performance appraisal, conflict resolution, and the administration of Talent and Culture policies and initiatives.
Who you are
To be successful, you will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in a retail environment with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role; Agro product knowledge and experience are preferred.
- Hold a current class 5 driver license with a clean driver's abstract and the ability to travel across our trading areas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel) and the ability to manage computer files efficiently.
- Ability to develop relationships with internal and external customers on complex issues and transactions.
- Strong skills in controlling operational costs, maximizing efficiency, and driving growth.
- High integrity, strong work ethic, and the ability to work professionally with people at all levels.
- Ability to adapt to new technology and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the flexibility to work in a diverse environment.
- Ability to handle changing priorities quickly and effectively.
- Action-oriented, with a positive and energetic approach to challenges.
