Job summary

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a Technical Asset & Lifecycle Specialist in Markham, Ontario. You will support asset lifecycle management, facility condition assessments, and capital planning to optimize asset performance and expenditures.

Collaborate with clients, facility managers, and project teams to develop data-driven recommendations, forecasts, and long‑term capital plans spanning 5–20 years. A background in engineering or building science and energy management is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years in lifecycle management, sustainability/energy management, consulting, or sustainable facilities management.
• Knowledge of building science, mechanical/electrical systems, and smart building tech.
• MS Office and asset management software proficiency.
• Familiar with RSMeans costing and estimation experience.
• Experience with building system condition assessments.
• ASHRAE standards knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support development and improvement of lifecycle asset management and capital planning.
• Conduct infield facility equipment inspections and asset tagging as needed.
• Maintain and improve asset inventories, condition assessments, and data.
• Analyze maintenance history and lifecycle data to form capital planning recommendations.
• Assess asset condition, risks, and remaining useful life to guide investments.
• Prepare lifecycle and capital planning reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with sustainability and energy teams to incorporate efficiency opportunities.
• Support project scoping and capital project development.
