Job description

Whitecap Resources Inc. ("Whitecap") is a Canadian oil & natural gas company that pays a monthly cash dividend to its shareholders. Since September 2009, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 850 boe/d to over 365,000 boe/d. We have unconventional and conventional assets exclusively focused in Western Canada and the asset base includes the Weyburn EOR Project. As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 making it a unique project within our portfolio.

Position Overview

Working with the Asset Integrity Team, the Asset Integrity Inspector is responsible for performing a wide range of integrity management activities as prescribed in Whitecap’s Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System. The successful candidate will work with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams throughout the entire life cycle of Whitecap’s equipment including design, installation, commissioning, operations, inspection, repair and eventual decommissioning. Responsibilities include all boilers, pressure vessels, pressure relief devices, storage tanks and on-lease and above ground piping within the Alberta Business areas.

The successful candidate will be required to travel to field and office locations within Alberta, as required. It is preferred that the successful candidate live within a reasonable distance from Grande Prairie or Whitecourt, AB.

Responsibilities

  • Perform internal, external and installation inspections.
  • Coordinate non-destructive testing activities completed by third parties.
  • Complete integrity assessments on pressure equipment and set next inspection intervals.
  • Develop pressure vessel and tank repair plans and aid in the coordination of repair activities including direct supervision and certification of repair activities.
  • Develop and update inspection scopes of work and coordinate vendors to execute the inspections.
  • Evaluate and assess PSV service reports.
  • Support the implementation of our PEIMS program.
  • Participate in Field & Asset Integrity team meetings.
  • Report incidents and failures to regulatory bodies and the corporate Chief Inspector.
  • Support internal conformance reviews, regulatory audits, failure analyses and risk assessments.
  • Work with provincial regulators to ensure corporate and regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate asset inventories and operating status within corporate and regulatory databases.
  • Provide technical inspection assistance to engineering and construction teams.
  • Inspect and recommend protective coating systems and repairs.
  • Remain up to date and knowledgeable on all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Field coordination and cost control for integrity monitoring and assessment activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within the oil & gas industry in a similar role with 5 years of experience completing in-field inspections.
  • Standard oil and gas safety tickets
  • API 510, preference given to 570 and 653 Inspector Certifications.
  • ABSA ISI-BPVPP or ISI-PVPP Certification
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes such as CSA B51, ASME SEC I, IV, VIII, IX, B31.3, B31.1 and API Inspection Codes
  • Working knowledge of welding procedures, processes and NDE techniques.
