Job summary

The Saskatchewan Abilities Council is seeking an Assessor to perform client-centered disability assessments across Saskatchewan. You will conduct in-person evaluations, often in homes or public spaces, with travel and occasional overnight stays.

You will record findings in a data management system and analyze information for accuracy, ensuring fair use of assessment tools. Qualifications include a Degree in Human Services and at least two years of related assessment experience.

Job description

Compensation Pay Class 16 (range of $30.39 to $37.83 per hour) plus benefit package.

Duties and responsibilities:

The Assessor’s role is responsible for using a client-centred approach to conduct assessments with individuals, using established disability impact assessment tools. This position is also responsible for recording information obtained during the assessment process in a data management system and/or paper process, analyzing/reviewing information for correctness and ensuring the consistent and equitable application of the assessment tool.

Duties include:
  • Conducting in-person assessments with individuals in their homes or public locations. In limited circumstances, assessments may be virtually or by phone.
  • Travel is required, including occasional overnight stays, within defined regions of the province.
  • Recording information obtained during the assessment process in an electronic data management system.
  • Analyzing/reviewing information for correctness and ensuring the consistent and equitable application of the assessment tool.
  • Providing project reporting and information as requested (verbal, paper, electronic), such as statistics, status updates, scheduling information, challenges, etc. to Senior Supervisor, management, and Ministry staff as required.
  • Ongoing communication with Senior Supervisor and Administrator, as well as other Assessors in carrying out of responsibilities.
  • Developing, scheduling, and coordinating daily workflow within specified timeframes.
  • Liaising with other community organizations or support persons as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Degree in Human Services.
Experience:
  • Minimum of two years related assessment work experience.
Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • In depth understanding of disability issues including conducting assessments (disability, impact, functional, vocational).
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License and use of personal vehicle.

Final Candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search.
