The Assembly Mechanic 1 is responsible for building low to medium complexity assemblies. The ideal candidate will be able to produce parts which have already completed first articles verification; Collaborate with other Assembly Mechanics to produce medium complexity assemblies, and is capable of the bonding and fabrication of a majority of subcomponents and lower-level detail parts.

Assembly Mechanic 1 Responsibilities:

  1. Learn to problem solve and troubleshoot producibility challenges;
  2. Build low to medium complexity assemblies and lower level detail parts;
  3. Exposure to processes within potting and bonding work center (Fill and fair, install insert and edge pot);
  4. Exposure to custom fabrication of parts, applying décor per finish requirements;
  5. With minimal assistance perform complex repairs on components as required by the customer;
  6. Exposure with shop equipment drill motors, pneumatic tools, band saws, drill presses, various tool grinders, Rivet gun and bucking bar, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner;
  7. Exposure in use of Chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes;
  8. Exposure to electrical and structural part drawings;
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Experience:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Shall possess, at a minimum, a High School diploma or GED.
  3. Limited Experience to 3+ years in the consuming electrical and structural aerospace/ equivalent part drawings.
  4. Limited Experience to 3+ years interpreting, authoring and executing assembly and component test requirements.
  5. Mechanical and electrical aptitude and knowledge of aerospace or other equivalent industry.

Skills/Abilities:

  1. Ability to communicate well with others.
  2. Troubleshooting/problem solving.
  3. Detail oriented.
  4. Ability to prioritize, multi-task effectively, and work under pressure.
  5. Able to perform mathematic calculations.
  6. Work from solid models, technical drawings, engineering sketches, and other such documentation to produce a variety of prototype and production parts.
  7. Analyze written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and verbal instructions to determine operation sequences.

Working Conditions:
Standard machine shop environment.

Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for safe conduct on the manufacturing floor and to meet job responsibilities.
