Our Profile

In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana, located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:

Maintenance General Foreman

To execute maintenance plans by providing direction and supervision to the maintenance supervisory employees and ensuring that asset optimization schedules and programs are met and maintenance/electrical/mechanical work is performed in the safest and most cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring work is performed to the highest standards and within specified time frames.
  • Assign and schedule daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks and priorities.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to maintenance staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, procedures, and regulations during all maintenance operations.

Maintenance Planning & Execution:

  • Oversee and ensure the successful execution of preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Coordinate with other departments to schedule and prioritize maintenance work, considering production schedules and other operational needs.
  • Review and approve work orders, making sure that they align with project timelines, budgets, and safety requirements.

Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:

  • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and other equipment failures.
  • Manage the repair or replacement of faulty equipment, ensuring minimal production disruption.
  • Work closely with vendors and contractors as needed for specialized equipment or technical issues.

Budgeting & Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and control the maintenance budget, ensuring that projects are completed within financial constraints.
  • Manage and oversee the inventory of maintenance parts and supplies, ordering parts as necessary and maintaining accurate records.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure that all maintenance work complies with industry safety standards, legal regulations, and internal policies.
  • Provide regular updates, reports, and status on ongoing projects, repairs, and issues to senior management.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and cost-saving measures.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team, driving the adoption of best practices.

Qualifications/Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering and/or technical certificate in maintenance with equivalent experience.
  • 8 - 10 years experience in the mining industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience at a supervisory level.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job duties.
  • Pleasant and courteous in interpersonal interactions.

Working Conditions:

  • Position based at the OKO Project site.
  • Work Schedule – 14 days on, 7 days off.
  • Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
