Job Description

We are currently hiring an Assembler 2 for our Manufacturing and Operations team. This role is fully on-site. As an Assembler at GDMS-C, you will be part of a team that works closely together to achieve department goals. Our workforce includes Production Controllers, Master Schedulers, Shipping & Receiving Specialists, Assemblers, Technologists, Repair & Overhaul experts, and Product & Mechanical Engineers. If you thrive in a busy manufacturing environment and hands-on roles, this is the role for you.

  • Assemble, rework, and operate electronic and electromechanical equipment of simple to medium complexity from detailed procedures, assembly drawings, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Follow detailed assembly documentation (Drawings & Parts Lists) and instructions (Assembly Manufacturing Instructions & Process Routing Sheets) to perform assigned tasks.
  • Complete "buddy checks" as part of the quality control process.
  • Adhere to workmanship standards & procedures to produce quality products. Record and report quality data in company standard quality tracking systems.
  • Complete work orders on time and within expected productivity outputs.
  • Communicate, prioritize, and multitask effectively to achieve team goals.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a Grade 12 education at an Ontario Secondary School.
  • Over 1 year up to and including 2 years of relevant experience.

Physical Effort

  • Minimal physical exertion; work primarily in a sitting or forward-leaning position, with occasional movement around the workplace.
  • Moderate lifting of low-weight items; limited need to lift heavy items. Prolonged focus and concentration required.

Sensory Effort

  • May require working through a microscope for extended periods. Dexterity and visual acuity necessary for fine/precise electronic assembly.

Working Environment

  • Some isolation during production; limited exposure to chemicals, fumes, dust, and noise; some repetition; moderate interruptions; occasional high-volume, tight deadlines.

It is required that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, and that all employees undergo security assessments. Successful applicants must meet security requirements, including obtaining and maintaining a Canadian government security clearance. Additional security requirements may apply for access to classified or international regulated data. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
