Job summary

Stantec in Canada is seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer role to support projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in evaluating and specifying engineered systems and verify compliance with codes and standards.

The position involves coordination across disciplines and field work as needed. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering, plus up to 2 years of experience.

Qualifications

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Good understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas effectively.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building programs and similar material.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ETABS, SAP, SAFE, STAAD or similar software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and similar materials.
  • Coordinate with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines under senior engineer guidance.
  • Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
  • Perform basic calculations to analyze and design building components using standard software.
  • Assist with engineering duties on projects of varying complexity.
  • Assist with data collection to support design decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
