What You’ll Be Doing

  • Signal to Asphalt Paving Machine Operator to start and stop paving machine
  • Monitor distribution of material over road surfaces to ensure uniform distribution
  • Beware of surroundings at all time
  • Ensure health and safety protocols are being followed, and wearing the correct PPE at all times
  • Able to work outside in pleasant & unpleasant weather conditions throughout the season
  • Able to work safety around large mobile equipment
  • Able to work safely around processing, moving equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Here’s What You Need

  • Must have a minimum of 3- 5+ years of proven experience as a full-time Asphalt Paving machine Tail End Person
  • Working knowledge of setting up and operating partial or full automatics on Asphalt paver
  • Ability to assist foreperson as a lead hand
  • Working knowledge of various parts and components of an asphalt spreader
  • Proficiency with an asphalt rake when assistance is required would be considered a positive asset
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Must be able to maintain a uniform grade during manual operations inclusive of joint matching conformity, from left or right side of machine
  • Previous lead hand or foreperson experience is preferred but not necessary
  • Previous MTO and Municipal experience is preferred but not necessary
  • A valid Ontario G Class Driver’s License in good standing and access to a vehicle
  • Current member in good standing of LIUNA local 1059 (or willingness to join)
