About The Job

Dudek is seeking mid-level professionals to provide environmental construction and biological resource monitoring services. This position will be based at project sites located throughout California and the workload is variable. The position is intermittent, mainly during spring and summer. Candidates should have experience in biological resources, including special-status wildlife species, rare plants, and aquatic resources. Additional experience in storm water, hazardous materials, air emissions, or noise monitoring is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Work with construction crews and project managers to document compliance related to environmental permits.
  2. Complete construction and resource surveys.
  3. Oversee installation and maintenance of environmental fencing and waste management.
  4. Identify heavy equipment and describe construction practices.
  5. Collaborate with construction personnel to develop solutions and implement permit conditions.
  6. Record observations on Dudek platforms for reporting.
  7. Manage weekly workload and communicate availability for field work.
  8. Follow all safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in environmental science, biology, or related field, or 3+ years field experience in construction compliance monitoring.
  • Ability to complete construction and resource surveys.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and active personal auto insurance.
  • Pre-employment drug test and background check required.
Species Experience Required:
  • Experience with surveys, monitoring, and permits for species like California red-legged frog, San Joaquin kit fox, California tiger salamander, burrowing owl, and large branchiopods.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Permits from CDFW for species like Crotch's bumble bee or foothill yellow-legged frog.
  • Experience with species such as western pond turtle, giant garter snake, Swainson's hawk, and others.
  • Proficiency with GPS/GIS applications and Survey123.
  • At least 3 years of biological resources experience in the Sacramento Valley.
  • Previous approvals from CDFW or USFWS as a biological monitor.
  • Strong communication skills and understanding of environmental regulations.
  • Certifications in sediment and erosion control, dust monitoring, and noise monitoring.
  • Qualified biologist for wildlife and plant species monitoring.
Physical Requirements:

Working Conditions: This job may require outdoor site visits with noise, uneven surfaces, weather, and moving vehicles.

Physical Demands: Ability to hike long distances, work on a computer, attend meetings, and have good vision. Accommodations may be made for disabilities.

Salary Range

$34 - 53 per hour, based on experience, education, certifications, skills, and location.
