Are you passionate about customer service and creating a welcoming, efficient experience for others? Join the team at NAIT’s Artisanal Food Market as a Front of House Service Worker and be part of a unique, student-driven environment focused on food, sustainability, and community.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you’ll be the first point of contact for students, staff, and campus visitors. You’ll play an essential part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the market while providing friendly, professional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers and answer questions about products or services.
  • Operate POS system and process debit and credit payments.
  • Handle refunds, exchanges, and returns per policy.
  • Keep front-of-house area clean and organized.
  • Restock shelves and maintain product displays.
  • Manage lineups and keep service moving efficiently.
  • Communicate customer feedback and issues to Team Lead and Supervisor.
  • Follow health and safety standards in food handling and front-of-house hygiene.
  • Assist with events or promotions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and professional appearance.
  • Comfortable using POS.
  • Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure and stay organized.
  • Pays attention to detail and cleanliness.
  • Team player with collaborative work ethic.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently when needed.
  • Reliable, punctual and proactive

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in retail, food service, or hospitality is an asset.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices in service environment.
  • Food Safety Certificate is an asset

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration : $17.48 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation accrual. (Classification – Service Worker).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
