ECS is seeking an ARPA-H Cell Biology/Bioengineering/Biotechnology SME (Non-Cryogenic Cell Preservation) to work remotely.

Do you thrive in multidisciplinary, fast-paced environments where you can contribute technical expertise, analytical skills, and programmatic support to advance non-cryogenic cell preservation technologies? Are you ready to support the ARPA-H mission to accelerate better health outcomes through high-impact research and development projects?

ECS seeks a Cell Biology/Bioengineering/Biotechnology SME to join as a Technical System Engineer and Advisor (SETA) supporting an ARPA-H Program Manager developing breakthrough biological, material, and processing technologies for cell preservation at non-cryogenic temperatures. This remote position supports a Program Manager in the Eastern Time Zone.

Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to developing breakthrough biological, material, and processing technologies for non-cryogenic cell preservation.
  2. Support technical and programmatic goals using internal and external resources.
  3. Develop and provide subject matter expertise in relevant sub-domains.
  4. Perform market and regulatory analyses, technical due diligence, literature reviews, and generate briefing documents on topics like cell and gene therapies, biomanufacturing, cell preservation, and natural stress adaptations.
  5. Evaluate technical proposals for scientific merit and innovation, providing feedback, organizing reviewer comments, and drafting recommendations and presentation materials.
  6. Develop technical and administrative documentation to communicate approach, progress, costs, schedule, and risks for advanced technology development efforts.
Salary Range

$100,000 - $190,000

Required Skills
  • PhD with 2+ years, MS with 5+ years, or BA with 7+ years of experience.
  • Strong foundational understanding of cell biology or bioengineering and comfort with new biotechnologies.
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with bioassays to evaluate biological activity and function.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with discovery, development, and manufacturing of cell therapies.
  • Experience with biopharmaceutical processing technologies (e.g., lyophilization, spray-drying, fill-finish).
  • Familiarity with FDA-regulated technology development.
  • Knowledge of industry leaders and disruptors.
  • Prior experience supporting ARPA-like programs (e.g., DARPA, IARPA, ARPA-E) or U.S. DoD advanced development programs.
