Qualifications

Job Description and Responsibilities

We currently have an opening at our Calgary facility for a dynamic leader with a proven track record as an Area Supervisor. In this role, you will be responsible for scheduling, providing direction, coordinating training, and leading your crew to achieve or exceed safety, production, quality, and recovery targets while minimizing costs and labor issues.

Drive results by optimizing operations to increase productivity and improve Yield and First Pass Yield.

Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and quality programs.

Plan, align, and direct daily production activities to meet or exceed production requirements and ensure conformance with the monthly shipping plan.

Make every reasonable effort to ensure employee safety.

Conduct monthly safety meetings.

Work with operators and stakeholders to effectively solve problems.

Provide or arrange training for employees to meet job standards.

Support all company and regulatory requirements

Report mechanical/electrical concerns immediately and contribute to failure analysis.

Engage employees in continuous improvement to identify and eliminate waste.

Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a related field; candidates with an engineering degree are preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent experience.

Minimum two years of industrial operations experience; experience in operating steel/pipe facilities is preferred.

Journeyperson in Mechanical Trades is considered an asset.

Previous experience leading a team and overseeing work is preferred.

Demonstrated business operations and process improvement experience.

Understanding and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

Familiarity with occupational health and safety (OH&S) regulations and safety standards.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to motivate teams.

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
