Your new role

Take the lead in overseeing the design and construction management of our new paste plant and tailings filter plant as part of the Windfall Project, which is entering the pre-construction phase. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that all activities comply with stringent engineering standards, regulations, and safety protocols. By efficiently managing and allocating resources, you will drive optimal project execution, ensuring that every aspect runs smoothly and effectively. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction strategies that align with and meet the project's ambitious goals and objectives.

Additionally, you will define scope requirements for functional teams, meticulously ensuring that all areas of scope, cost, and schedule are thoroughly addressed. Your strategic oversight will be crucial in delivering successful project outcomes and advancing the company's position in the industry.

You will work closely with end user stakeholders to ensure that their needs are well understood, and that designs are developed that can deliver on the operational requirements. You will work with specialist vendors to investigate, select and adopt state of the art technologies that will drive a safe, efficient and effective operation for the long term. Your focus on detail during the design and delivery phase will ensure Windfall’s long-term success.

Your mechanical understanding will enable you to fully understand the unique systems associated with tailings management and to use these systems in developing advanced operating configurations for the longer-term operation. You will work closely with the mining design team to ensure that the long term mine schedules adequately adopt the requirements of the tailings management systems.

Working with the technical functions, the Area Manager role has full accountability for the development and delivery of the scope required to realize the start of the art facility, including scope development, contracting strategies, cost and schedule development, quality management and commissioning and ramp up of the plant. The Area Manager is the integrator of all other functional areas and the senior point of accountability.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline. (Project management qualifications highly regarded).
  • 10+ years of experience with management of paste and filter plants within the mining sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scope infrastructure projects.
  • Bilingual (able to communicate with clients and stakeholders in English and French)
  • Leadership qualities to motivate and guide engineering, procurement and construction teams
  • Collaborative skills to work with functions and other areas in scope delivery
  • Ability to conduct thorough site inspections and evaluation
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting for performance assessment
