Job summary

The Province of Nova Scotia invites applications for an Area Manager in Antigonish County. Reporting to the District Director, you will lead highway operations, oversee maintenance programs, and coordinate with multiple partners to advance infrastructure projects.

We seek a Civil Engineer with PE registration (or eligibility), strong leadership, and travel willingness. Expect interaction with stakeholders, budget oversight, and a dynamic, safety‑driven work environment.

Qualifications

• A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (or eligibility for membership) with Engineers Nova Scotia is required.
• Frequent travel across the province is a component of this position; a valid driver’s license is required.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment and proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and email applications are expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead highway and bridge maintenance programs and staff.
• Ensure traffic safety and acceptable roadway services.
• Oversee cost sharing agreements and other Department programs.
• Interact with municipal, provincial and federal representatives and external stakeholders.
