As an Area Manager, you will play a critical role in coordinating and implementing high-quality traffic control services. This role involves maintaining traffic control operations, ensuring productivity, efficiency, safety, and supervising field staff.

What you will be responsible for :

  • Collaborating with the Operations Manager (OM), General Manager (GM), Dispatch, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to coordinate schedules, distribute work efficiently, and address relief needs.
  • Supervising and directing traffic employees in the Dispatch Fleet and for site requirements.
  • Ensuring field staff comply with regulations, company standards, and policies through education and training.
  • Addressing the portfolio of clients assigned to you and employee inquiries via phone and email, including staffing, safety concerns, and complaints.
  • Investigating and addressing complaints from clients, the public, and employees, reporting major incidents.
  • Collaborating with Fleet and Facilities departments to maintain proper inventory and supply of fleet vehicles for new LCTs.
  • Analyzing field staff utilization and addressing non-supply issues.
  • Assisting HR and GM with manpower forecasting, planning, and deployment.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and practices in collaboration with OHS.
  • Conducting site visits for contractor consultations.

What we need from you :

  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Previous traffic control experience considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years construction management experience required.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Experience addressing conduct and performance issues with geographically dispersed field employees.
  • Well-versed in safety regulations related to traffic management, services, and facilities.
  • Valid WorkSafeBC Traffic Control Person ticket is an asset.

Where / When you will be working :

  • The position is set for 40 hours per week.
  • While primarily based out of the Operations Office in Vernon, flexibility may be needed to work from satellite offices, attend meetings, and job sites.
  • During critical project phases, working outside normal hours may be required to meet project timelines.
