Job Title: Area Manager

About The Role

Reporting to the Regional Manager, we are looking for an Area Manager to join our Cannabis Operations team. The Area Manager is responsible for all aspects of Store Operations within their assigned area. While instilling Nova Cannabis’ values in the organization, the Area Manager drives the customer experience and culture in retail stores. As Area Manager, you are entrepreneurial, passionate, and a proven leader with multi-unit management experience in the hospitality or retail industries.

Responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed budget targets for your assigned region, building on a unique and memorable customer experience and customer base to generate revenue while controlling costs
  • Lead a team of Customer Experience Representatives in the delivery of world-class customer service, effective sales techniques, merchandising standards, and store policies and procedures
  • Train, mentor, coach and develop Store Managers to fulfill customer promise and ensure succession planning by identifying, developing, and inspiring future leaders
  • Build effective partnerships and collaborate with other departments through an open, positive, and consultative approach to address key business issues and opportunities
  • Proactively identify and implement new strategies that will ensure the future success of the Operations business unit
  • Ensure all stores operate within the guidelines established by Nova Cannabis under AGLC rules and regulations
  • Improve and maintain facilities, working closely with Construction & Design
  • Ensure stores are upholding quality and customer-service standards
  • Maintain and expand customer base. Build and maintain rapport with customers. Identify new customer opportunities
  • Respond to audit reports, determine system improvements, and implement change
  • Participate in and lead the hiring of Store Managers and Customer Experience Representatives, develop selection process tools and participate in interviews to ensure qualified candidates are hired
  • Provide supervision through site visits, observations and review of measurable results including delivering performance appraisals and salary reviews
  • Demonstrate commitment to Nova Cannabis social responsibility mandate
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, daily travel, primarily within the province
  • Ability to drive talent initiatives that include a culture of safety and a culture of success

Experience And Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business or relevant field is an asset
  • Minimum, 3 - 5 years experience managing multi-unit retail stores or large hospitality establishments, liquor and/or cannabis industry preferred
  • Sound knowledge of retail operations and related operating practices
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite applications
  • Previous experience in strategy, channel execution, training and communications
  • Working knowledge of regulations as it pertains to the selling of Cannabis in Alberta
  • Valid SellSafe Certification
  • AGLC (Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission) approval to become a QCW (Qualified Cannabis Worker) and able to work at a Cannabis Store
