Destination Exploration (DE) is seeking a part-time Arconic STEM Club Instructor ($18.00/hour, 8-10 hours/week) for its in-school Arconic STEM Club to begin September 18th, 2023.
DE is the University of Lethbridge’s Youth STEM organization located in the Science Commons on campus with a mission to bring science and technology to life in a fun and educational manner. We are seeking a creative and motivated person to develop and run our Arconic In-School STEM Clubs for junior high students (gr 6-9), which run Friday afternoons at local schools from October 4 to November 27 (potential to extend until March 25, 2024). This will include developing creative and hands-on STEM lessons and implementing these with club participants and evaluation. As this club will run off-campus, the instructors must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
An individual in this position will gain experience in public speaking, classroom management, educational lesson planning, administration skills and valuable communication soft skills. DE programs work with a variety of technology used in K-12 education that you will be taught how to use effectively such as Spheros, Ozobots, Makey Makey, Micro:bit, TinkerCAD and 3D printing.
