Job description

At the heart of our mission is to provide non-partisan administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, along with operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The Office of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Precinct Properties Branch (PPB) is responsible for all capital works renovation and restoration projects, mechanical and electrical infrastructure upgrades, repairs, and the day-to-day maintenance of the Legislative building and grounds. PPB is seeking a dedicated student who intends to make a commitment to this challenging, complex profession. The student’s primary function will be to digitize archival documents; this may include tasks such as scanning, labelling, and recording information.

We are an integrated office that utilizes a dynamic team of architects, engineers, conservators and researchers, and industry specialists driven by a singular goal to help preserve Ontario's Legislative building. This internship will provide students with an opportunity to be a member of our multi-disciplinary team.

This internship requires the individual to work in the office full time.

(This Temporary Full Time Opportunity is available from July to August 2025)

What You’ll Do

What you’ll act with integrity to:

  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and independence from political influences.
  • Act in conformity with the law and established policies.
  • Exhibit the utmost tact, diplomacy and confidentiality at all times.

You’ll support our community as you:

  • Support branch staff by carrying out various administrative duties (i.e. filing, printing, etc.).
  • Undertake the process of digitizing historic documents and project files to expand our digital archive.
  • May assist branch project staff with producing architectural drawings and graphic materials.
  • Contribute to the design process by utilizing various software platforms including AutoCAD , the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, and the Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • May assist branch staff with project related research.
  • May participate in the review of design documents and contract administration.
  • Attend project team meetings.
  • Other general clerical duties as required.

How You Qualify

You demonstrate excellence through your:

  • Enrollment in an accredited program working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in an integrated office that utilizes a dynamic team of architects, engineers, conservators, researchers, and industry specialists.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend architectural drawings.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or independently as required for assignments.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • A creative design portfolio is an asset.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, graphics, and organizational skills are essential.
