Location: Remote (Must be OAA Licensed)

THE COMPANY
Our client, based in Ottawa, is reshaping how low-rise multifamily homes are designed and built by using modular construction as their core delivery method. With a focus on efficiency, standardization, and sustainable design, their projects blend quality, speed, and livability. Specializing in modular wood-frame and mass timber construction, they are committed to creating thoughtful, repeatable housing solutions that support the needs of growing communities.
Their development approach balances smart architectural design with production-minded precision—making this a unique opportunity for someone passionate about learning new construction techniques. You’ll be part of a remote-first team that thrives on independence, innovation, and impact.

THE ROLE
This is a specialized opportunity for an OAA-Licensed Architect with direct experience in volumetric modular construction for low-rise multifamily housing. This role is not traditional architecture—it requires a mindset oriented around repeatability, constructability, and value engineering, with a strong grasp of the “building blocks” of the design, and the use of steel/wood/mass timber systems in modular applications.
You’ll be expected to lead and execute detailed design packages, ensuring that all work aligns with the realities of modular construction and can be manufactured, transported, and assembled efficiently.
We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has deep knowledge of modular construction and thrives in production-oriented design
  • Can work independently in a fully remote role
  • Understands the balance between aesthetic appeal and practical constructability

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead architectural design for volumetric modular low-rise residential projects up to 6 Stories
  • Create detailed, modular-friendly construction drawings that support manufacturing, repetition, and scalability
  • Incorporate value engineering principles into every design decision
  • Plan for standardization, repeatability, and efficiency across multiple units
  • Apply a strong understanding of mass timber and steel/ wood-frame construction techniques
  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code and zoning bylaws
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and manufacturing partners to align design intent with fabrication capabilities
  • Participate in virtual project meetings and adjust designs based on coordination needs and feedback

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Licensed Architect (OAA)
  • Hands-on experience with volumetric modular construction for low-rise residential
  • Strong understanding of steel/wood framing and/or mass timber construction techniques
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit (minimum 3 years), including family creation and management
  • Proven ability to develop detailed, constructible working drawings tailored to modular production
  • Familiarity with box sizing, mechanical/wet wall alignment, and efficient unit layout strategies
  • Experience working independently and remotely on projects from concept through to permit issuance
  • Experience stamping and issuing Ontario building permit drawings
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Full remote work flexibility
  • Extended health and dental benefits
  • Paid time off and flexible work arrangements
  • Opportunity to shape the future of modular housing with a company that’s pushing boundaries
