Overview
We are seeking a qualified Registered Architect to join our team in delivering innovative architectural and interior design services for commercial and residential projects. This full-time permanent position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects across all design phases. Candidates should be familiar with design-focused, detail-oriented design, and sustainable design principles, and have exposure to all phases of the design process.
Responsibilities
- Realize architectural design from concepts to construction.
- Prepare comprehensive technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents across both architecture and interior design scopes.
- Create 3D architectural models, visual renderings, and 3D printed prototypes for client presentations.
- Research and ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and municipal bylaws.
- Prepare and submit permit applications and coordinate with regulatory authorities.
- Conduct client consultations, prepare design presentations, and manage project budgets.
- Provide contract administration services including site visits, submittal reviews, and RFI responses.
- Coordinate with structural, mechanical, consultants and construction professionals.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- Registration as an Architect with the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA).
- Certified Interior Designer with NCIDQ certification.
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in architectural practice, preferably in Alberta.
- Experience across all project phases including conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and contract administration.
- Experience with commercial and residential projects, architectural and interior design contributions.
- Ability to review mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings in detail and coordinate these consultants.
- Site visits, detailed field reviews, and documentation of reviews.
- Formal construction administration documentation (change orders, RFIs, progress claims, etc.).
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in design and documentation: Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp.
- Advanced visualization and rendering: Enscape, 3D printing (PrusaSlicer).
- Presentation and documentation: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary
$41 per hour with annual increases commensurate with inflation
- Three weeks annual vacation plus Christmas office closure
