In the Ottawa Studio role, we seek a candidate with technical expertise and contract administration experience across a variety of project types. The successful applicant must have the drive, experience, and team spirit necessary to contribute to the creation of exceptional projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a culture of client-focused project delivery through high technical competency.
  • Independently coordinate the work of a multidiscipline team through all phases of projects.
  • Be involved in multiple projects at any one time.
  • Actively participate as a member of our in-office studio, collaborating with and mentoring junior intern architects, and technologists within the team.
  • Organize and participate in construction documentation i.e., leading-building envelope design, interior details, and coordination with different disciplines.
  • Prepare or participate in the preparation of tender ready contract documents.
  • Provide construction administration on projects in CA Phases with oversight by the Principal in Charge.
  • Collaborate with project design teams to facilitate project execution through highly skilled detailing.
  • Leading coordination efforts with outside and internal engineering consultants.
  • Performing QA/QC and implementing project milestone QA/QC reviews, and technical reviews across projects.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of Architectural specifications in contract documents and coordinate with specification writers.
  • Be well-versed in the implementation and application of OBC and local codes.

*Project types include healthcare, LTC, higher education, and government projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 - 10 years of related experience.
  • Must have experience in both small and large-scale projects.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Revit 3D Modeling, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in the preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications.
  • Experience performing contract administration.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, with minimal management oversight.
  • Committed to being a team player willing to learn, expand their skill set, and be versatile in tasks.
  • Professional, self-motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience and/or interest in Sustainable Design / LEED / WELL.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset but not required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience.
  • Registered Architect.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process.
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
