A leading company in BC consulting archaeology is seeking an experienced Field Director to lead diverse projects across the Northwest Coast and Interior culture areas. This role offers opportunities for personal development and engagement with community-based projects while ensuring ethical practices. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills, critical thinking, and a passion for archaeology, working closely with clients and First Nations.

Qualifications

  • Approved Field Directors with the British Columbia Archaeology Branch.
  • Familiarity with BC archaeology and the HCA.
  • Applicants must be physically fit and hold a valid class 5 Driver’s License.

Our client is growing, and they are looking for exceptional staff to work with them on diverse, challenging, and unique projects in the Vancouver area and throughout BC, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories.

The company with offices in Terrace, Prince Rupert, central Vancouver Island, and Vancouver seek an experienced Field Director for the Northwest Coast and Interior culture areas starting immediately for the 2021 season. There is potential for this position to become permanent. Field Directors will have opportunities to develop their experience in other culture areas within the province.

Responsibilities :

Applicants should enjoy adventure, critical thinking and problem solving, working in challenging physical conditions, and working to actively improve the current standards of consulting archaeology in BC.

Skills :

  • Approved Field Directors with the British Columbia Archaeology Branch.
  • Bachelors or graduate degree in archaeology or anthropology
  • Familiarity with BC archaeology and the HCA
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to supervise small- and medium-sized crews.
  • Applicants with the ability to Field Direct and hold permits on the north coast AS WELL AS the central interior will be given preference.
  • Applicants must be physically fit and hold a valid class 5 Driver’s License and Level I First Aid. Additional training such as ATV, snowmobile, and Wilderness First Aid certification would be an asset.
