Job description

Aquilla Archaeology Ltd, Nanaimo, BC is looking for a qualified field director archaeologist to start immediately.

Join a team committed to high-quality archaeological research and fostering an inclusive understanding of the past. This role suits those passionate about archaeology, interested to live and work around Central Vancouver Island.

Candidates must be a current, verified field director in good standing for the Northwest Coast and have strong field competency.

·A Bachelor's degree in archaeology, or anthropology with focus on northwest coast archaeology

·Professional accreditation is an asset

·Willing to travel and work away for extended periods

·Physically fit and able to direct and supervise fieldwork in a variety of settings including remote areas and challenging environments

·Efficiently plan and execute fieldwork

·Collect quality field data and contribute to report writing

·Experienced in finding, recording, and registering archaeological sites in BC

·Commitment to safety

·Direct and supervise archaeological team in the field

·Efficiently manage schedules and meet deadlines

·Strong verbal and written communicator

·Produce timely, compliant reports

·Lead and work well within teams to achieve goals

·Class 5 driver's license

·Able to travel to remote locations

Required Qualifications:

·Minimum BA or MA (preferred) in anthropology or archaeology

·Professional accreditation with RPA or BCAPA

·Approved BC Archeology Branch Field Director

Duties:

·Direct and supervise survey, impact assessments, excavation, site visits, data collection and contribute to analysis and report production

Compensation:

$28-36 per hour, commensurate with experience.
