We invite applications for Paediatric Surgical Registrars starting February 2026, as part of our annual recruitment cycle.

At Te Whatu Ora – Waikato District, we operate a busy multi-disciplinary surgical service for children, including tertiary neonatal and trauma services. We are recruiting enthusiastic registrars for our Paediatric Surgery team at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand. We offer permanent positions and welcome applications from candidates with at least two years of postgraduate hospital experience, from diverse surgical backgrounds. Waikato District is one of New Zealand’s largest healthcare providers, serving a region of 900,000 people, with a local district of 375,000 and 82,000 children under 15. Our paediatric surgical team, part of a multidisciplinary unit, offers significant subspecialty and general experience, supported by the University of Auckland’s Waikato Clinical School and the hospital’s Clinical Audit Support Unit. About you

As a Paediatric Surgery Registrar, you will have:

  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Vocational registration in a medical specialty
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand with a Medical Council practising certificate
