Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited is seeking a Climbing Arborist to work on site in Burlington, Ontario. You will be in the canopy performing pruning, removals and installations with a strong emphasis on safety and customer interaction.

The role requires climbing experience, a valid driver’s license and the pursuit of Arborist certification. We offer full-time, year‑round employment with competitive hourly pay, benefits, RRSP/TFSA and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Understanding and implementation of safely ascending tree canopies at all heights.
• Minimum 1 year of climbing experience.
• Certified Arborist or willingness to work towards.
• Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Valid provincial driver’s license; 5-ton vehicle license an asset.
• Preferred background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

As a Climbing Arborist with Davey Tree; you will be in the field and up in the canopy most of your day with a hands-on approach to tree and vegetation management. You will deal directly with the public and will draw on your expert knowledge and experience to ensure the job is done right and on time.

Job Duties

• Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood in the canopy of the trees at various heights.


• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.


• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.


• Assist the trimmers and foreperson in job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.

Additional Information

• Full time. Year-round employment.


• $21-$27/hour. Wage will be determined based on education, experience, and relevant qualifications or certifications. Certified arborists may be paid outside the pay range indicated.
