Position Overview

Provides aquatic leadership program instruction for courses including National Lifeguard, Lifesaving Instructor, Swim Instructor, Assistant Instructor, and Standard First Aid and CPR-C courses.

Responsibilities
  1. Plans, implements, and conducts safe aquatic leadership program instruction.
  2. Ensures compliance with Ontario Health Regulations and all relevant legislation and policies.
  3. Ensures equipment is in place, operational, and properly stored.
  4. Evaluates and certifies performance, maintaining records of attendance and performance.
  5. Communicates participants’ progress.
  6. Supports the program through reports and record-keeping.
  7. Responds to aquatic emergencies using safety and rescue equipment.
  8. Consults with superiors on exceptional situations.
  9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • At least 3 months of related experience.
  • Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) award.
  • Current Lifesaving Instructor certification.
  • Valid CPR Level “C” and Standard First Aid Certificates.
  • Current Bronze Cross Examiner certification.
  • Instructor certification in at least one of the following: Standard First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Physical and mental demands including visual and auditory concentration while monitoring the pool, and physical activity involving standing, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Reliable with a positive attitude and employment record.
