Job summary

Triton Environmental Consultants is seeking Aquatic Biologists to join our Edmonton, AB office. You will provide technical leadership on aquatic biology components, help plan and lead aquatic programs, and deliver quality reports on schedule to support project managers.

The role involves field work with exposure to Western Canada projects, collaboration within a safety-conscious culture, and opportunities for professional development and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in environmental consulting.
  • Understanding of the Federal Fisheries Act and provincial environmental regulations is an asset.
  • Experience with technical writing, reporting, and leading projects/assignments.
  • Previous aquatic field work experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on aquatic biology components within project teams.
  • Help plan, manage, and lead aquatic programs.
  • Deliver quality reports on schedule per approved scopes of work.
  • Liaise with client representatives and contractors.

Your Opportunity:

As Triton continues to grow, we are seeking highly motivated and passionate Aquatic Biologists to join our established team of environmental professionals at our Edmonton, AB office.


You will contribute to various exciting projects that support local and provincial communities while balancing environmental stewardship with responsible resource development. This role will appeal to you if you enjoy leading and supporting aquatic field programs, working with a collaborative team, and providing strong technical support to various project managers. Your Impact:


  • Providing technical leadership support on the aquatic biology components of our projects within a team environment.

  • Helping manage, plan, and lead aquatic program(s).

  • Helping manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of works and deliver quality reports on schedule.

  • Liaising with client representatives and contractors.

  • Helping provide quality and independent reviews for projects.

  • Providing an understanding of environmental Best Management Practices and advise clients accordingly.

  • Working collaboratively within the Triton corporate culture.


Your Skills & Experience:


  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology, environmental science, or related field

  • Technical knowledge in aquatics and fisheries biology

  • A professional designation or eligibility is preferred but not required.

  • Minimum 2 years experience of relevant experience., ideally having worked within environmental consulting.

  • Some understanding of the Federal Fisheries Act and other Federal and Provincial environmental legislation in western Canada is considered an asset.

  • Experience with technical writing, reporting, and leading projects/assignments, is considered an asset.

  • Previous relevant aquatic field work experience is considered an asset.

  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Location, Work Schedule & Flexibility:

This position involves rotational shift-based field work. Schedules may vary and are determined by client project staffing requirements. For more experienced candidates, there may be consideration for more office-based roles.


Your Compensation:

Wages are commensurate with experience and qualifications, with approximate wage ranges as follows:


Entry‑level: $23-$30 per hour


Intermediate: $30 - $45 per hour


Senior: $45 - $75 per hour
