Job description

Aquafit Instructor

Primary Function

The Aquafit Instructor will deliver aqua fitness classes while providing a fun, safe and engaging experience to our program participants. This position will plan, organize and instruct classes for all ages and abilities while creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for participants.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Foster a welcoming and positive atmosphere for all participants.
  2. Design and lead a variety of progressive exercises that accommodate all fitness levels.
  3. Prepare and organize equipment and materials before and after each class.
  4. Keep current with industry trends and new class formats.
  5. Maintain overall safety of patrons, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  6. Report any injuries promptly to lifeguard staff and complete incident reports as required.
  7. Understand and follow all applicable facility, aquatic, municipal policy and procedures, including Health and Safety, to ensure the aquatic facility remains safe and clean.
  8. Represent the City of Thorold with a high level of professionalism.
Education/Experience
  1. CALA (Canadian Aquafitness Leaders Alliance) and/or WaterArt certification.
  2. Current First Aid, AED and CPR "C" certifications.
  3. Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Screening check.
  4. Current NLS certification (considered an asset).
  5. High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development certification (considered an asset).
Conditions of Employment

The successful candidates must be available to work approximately 4 hours per week, Monday to Friday (schedule has yet to be determined). Other related duties can only be considered part of the job if they directly relate to the primary function contained herein.
