Job summary

YMCA of Northern Alberta invites passionate aquatic fitness instructors to join our team. Lead engaging water-based classes, ensure participant safety, and foster a welcoming environment for all members.

You will work to enhance the member experience, promote healthy living, and model the YMCA’s mission, vision, and values while maintaining equipment and facilities in good condition.

Qualifications

• Current CPR-A certification at minimum.
• Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search required.
• Aquatic fitness instructor certification (YMCA, WaterArt, CALA) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality instruction of aquatic fitness classes for participants of various skills and abilities.
• Deliver high quality services through excellent relationships with members.
• Relay program information and upcoming YMCA events to members.
• Class set up and take down, keeping aquatic fitness equipment organized and in good repair.
• Role model recruitment and retention of members, best practices, and a healthy lifestyle.

About the Role:

Are you certified to teach aquatic fitness classes and looking for a way to give back to your community? The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking group fitness lovers with a passion and talent for relationship building and role modeling a healthy lifestyle. This position will lead aquatic fitness classes, work on strategies to improve members' experience, and ensure participant safety and enjoyment. Responsibilities:

• Provide quality instruction of aquatic fitness classes for participants of various skills and abilities.
• Deliver high quality services through excellent relationships with members.
• Relay program information and upcoming YMCA events to members.
• Class set up and take down, keeping aquatic fitness equipment organized and in good repair.
• Role model recruitment and retention of members, best practices, and a healthy lifestyle.
• Demonstrate and promote a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, and values and the YMCA programs and services.

Qualifications:

• Current certification in CPR-A (at minimum) is required.
• Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
• Aquatic fitness instructor certification is required (YMCA, WaterArt, CALA).
• Currently participating in fitness classes an asset.
• Friendly, energetic, positive attitude and organization.
• Ability to lead group fitness programming, including class planning.
• A love of fitness paired with an ability to make all feel like the Y is a place they can belong.
