Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team offers an opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! The Successful Candidate Will
- Develop and deliver fun, safe, and inclusive aqua fitness classes.
- Ensure attendance is taken at each class to prevent exceeding program capacity.
- Communicate with participants to troubleshoot and discuss any issues or concerns with the program.
- Liaise with the programmer regarding concerns, issues, or developments with the program, facility, or participants.
- Manage class and preparation time, arriving punctually for your scheduled classes.
- Set up your area properly before each class.
- Complete required paperwork related to Health and Safety, accidents, incidents, or facility issues.
Job Requirements
All
- Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with sensitivity to interact courteously and efficiently with a diverse range of patrons, parents, and staff.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
- Availability and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- A Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required due to the nature of the contacts in this position.
Specialized 1 – Starting $30
- Responsible for delivering aqua fitness classes such as shallow and/or deep Aqua Fitness (low, medium, high intensity classes).
- At least one to two years of relevant work experience in the area of instruction.
- Current certification or workshop from the specified teaching field.
Specialized 2 – Starting $35
- Responsible for delivering specialized aqua fitness classes such as Diaperfit, rehabilitative or therapeutic classes, Aqua Zumba, etc.
- At least three years of relevant work experience.
- Two or more current certifications or workshops from the specified teaching field.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued education in the fitness field (e.g., workshops, seminars).

- The pay rate will be determined by the Town of Newmarket based on applicant experience and program requirements.
- Certifications are not required at the time of application but must be obtained before starting the job. The Town may offer certification opportunities.
