About the Job

As an Asphalt Plant Supervisor you will ensure the asphalt plant operates smoothly and efficiently. You will utilize organization and problem-solving skills to resolve maintenance issues, plan work schedules and ensure the operation complies with health and safety and environmental legislation, policies and procedures.

Based out of our Niagara Falls location.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Plans, assigns and directs the workload for the plant operators to ensure maximum efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness
  • Creates and reviews annual budgets
  • Provides guidance and training sessions on health and safety and environmental issues to promote a safe work environment and inform staff of ways to improve and/or prevent accidents
  • Performs regular, preventative maintenance on equipment to avoid down time and improve efficiency
  • Coordinates subcontractors to perform maintenance and repairs as necessary
  • Reviews and submits time sheets to ensure accurate and timely payroll for staff
  • Completes documentation to compile reports such as health and safety and environment reports, production reports, test result reports etc., to provide accurate plant information as required
  • Operate plant and equipment such as loaders and trucks to provide backup relief for staff during holidays and lunch breaks as necessary to ensure the plant continues to operate smoothly
  • Provides supervision to a small team of unionized plant operators to ensure that work is done accurately and efficiently
  • Provides guidance, motivation, and performance review to maintain and enhance competency levels and identify future training requirements
  • Works with and communicates with suppliers and customers on a daily basis

Here’s What You Need

  • 2+ years’ experience of plant operations and supervision
  • College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Supply Chain and Operations Management, or equivalent level of education is considered an asset
  • A valid “G” Registration Ontario Driver’s License
  • Numeric skills to analyze, evaluate and formulate accurate forecasts
  • Demonstrated levels of customer service, interpersonal and communication skills to promote and foster relationships with existing and potential customers and industry associates
  • Knowledge of aggregate industry and maintenance programs is an asset
  • Working within a unionized environment is considered an asset
