Position Summary

The School of Trades and Technology at Red Deer Polytechnic is looking for a full-time Apprenticeship Programs Administration Coordinator. The Apprenticeship Programs Administration Coordinator function is to support efficient allocation and implementation of college resources into Apprenticeship programs. They serve as an important link between apprenticeship program areas and School Administrative Leaders, providing timely information to program Faculty and Staff, initiating and gathering information related to program operations to inform future resource allocation decisions, and providing service to program areas to support learners’ experiences.


Reporting to the Academic Operations Manager, the Apprenticeship Programs Administration Coordinator is expected to utilize and expand their depth of knowledge to improve processes and achieve efficiencies within the educational administration cycles at Red Deer Polytechnic. The Apprenticeship Programs Administration Coordinators are responsible for the day-to-day implementation of administrative and Apprenticeship functions which assist in the delivery of a wide variety of programs and initiatives as well as coordinating projects in support of School priorities. A high degree of initiative and independence are expected.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Apprenticeship Programs Administration Coordinator(s) include:

  • Program Coordination
  • Program and Associate Dean support
  • Coordinate Curriculum Development and Maintenance for Apprenticeship Programs
  • Strategic Planning
  • Program Promotion and Enrollment Monitoring
Required Qualifications
  • Completion of a two (2) year post-secondary credential, or completion of a trades apprenticeship, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a discipline relevant to Skilled Trades
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a fast paced, demanding environment with multiple interruptions
  • Experience working in a Post-Secondary environment and knowledge of Apprenticeship program delivery is essential to succeed in this role
  • Demonstrated experience with project management, team leadership, and group facilitation
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint) including implementing and troubleshooting complex excel formulas
  • Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution and interpersonal relationship development
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse high-performing team
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in the same role would be preferred. Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of University in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the School’s business, plus an understanding of the Apprenticeship training system
