Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a Tinsmith Apprentice to embark on a hands-on learning journey. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience under the guidance of a licensed tinsmith while working on real-world projects. You will start with basic cleaning and maintenance tasks, progressively taking on more complex responsibilities, including the installation and repair of equipment parts. You independently operate and maintain at least one process, equipment or systems following autonomous maintenance (AM) standards and use your technical skills to improve line and/or system performance to meet business needs.

How you will contribute

You are a key ingredient in changing how the world snacks. With coaching, you will operate and maintain equipment to deliver on our safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and morale targets. You will execute all standard work processes on your equipment using AM (autonomous maintenance) and PM (progressive maintenance) standards and ensure that safety processes are observed, and that quality assurance activities are performed. You will understand the losses in your area and equipment and report them.

Tinsmith Apprentice Job Summary

Our team seeks a Tinsmith Apprentice to learn on-the-job under the supervision of a licensed tinsmith. The apprenticeship will teach you how to assess and repair broken equipment or build custom equipment parts and solve problems on commercial job sites. As a Tinsmith Apprentice, you will complete both hands-on projects on job sites and coursework in a classroom setting. To start, your duties will include basic cleaning and maintenance tasks and progress to more skill-based tasks as you gain experience. You need to register your apprenticeship and apply for a license at the end of the program.

Tinsmith Apprentice Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist a Licensed Tinsmith and follow instructions
  • Prepare and clean work areas
  • Carry and deliver materials
  • Install, repair, and maintain various equipment parts or guarding.
  • Use measuring equipment and hand and power tools to perform work
  • Follow safety codes and building regulations

Tinsmith Apprentice Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Mathematics, calculus and arithmetic knowledge
  • Completion of Tinsmith or Sheet Metal worker training program preferred
  • Able to diagnose problems using observation, tools and test equipment
  • Knowledge of materials properties and classification.
  • Eagerness to learn welding, brazing, working with powered and hand tools, schematics and blueprint reading skills
  • Familiarity with the work of a Tinsmith.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Good technical skills and a willingness to follow instruction
  • Strong analytical ability and willingness to accept and learn from criticism
